Join us for a two-day Groundwork Clinic with Lisa Garr.

Intro to Groundwork Sat & Sun 9-12pm $150.00 Member | $165 Non-Member - basics of groundwork in the vaquero tradition. Learn how to help your horse get more soft & connected, teach them to respond rather than react, and help them find balance & security so they can find peace.

Intermediate Groundwork Sat & Sun, 1-4pm $150.00 Member | $165 Non-Member - Learn more refinement within yourself and your horse to get softer, lighter, and in better rhythm. More focus on preparation for under-saddle work.

Troubleshooting: Saturday 4-6pm $50.00 Member | $60 Non-Member - Looking for some help with a specific problem? Sign up for this bonus session with Lisa who can help address specific questions and issues. It will be an open format

About the Clinician:

Lisa learned to ride at 8 years old from a tough-as-old-boot-leather woman in the backcountry of the North Cascades and grew up riding alongside cowboys & ranchers, as well as "showing" in small-town 4-H shows.

She spent her college years exercising show jumpers (and taking just enough lessons in jumping so she knew how to not get in their way!) and teaching beginner riding lessons to all ages.

Lisa discovered the Vaquero style of horsemanship about 12 years ago and found a way of connecting with and educating the horse that she had been searching for since childhood - a way of working with them, "as if the horse had a say in how we go about it".

The core philosophies of this work empower the horse through softness, feel, and true connection, building their confidence and offering them emotional and mental peace, in any circumstances. They also encourage us humans to find peace within ourselves, recognize and regulate our energy, and to be present with our equine partners.

In her own words:

"Something I love about this work is that it is simply Good Horsemanship - and therefore applies to any and all riding disciplines, any and all breeds of horses, and is especially useful for horses who may not have had the best start with the Human Experience.

I am incredibly passionate about helping the horse get along in this crazy human world, and a huge part of that comes from helping their humans find a way of working that is fair and makes sense to both species."

Join us at the Bainbridge Island Saddle Club for an evening of riding and relaxation. All ages are welcome, and we are pleased to offer both wine and non-alcoholic beverages as part of our curated trail-side social. We’ll meet up at the Club, head out for a scenic ride through Manzanita Park, and return to unwind with a delicious spread!

...then this clinic is for you. This session is designed to help you build the judgment needed to stay safe on the road. We focus on real trailers and real scenarios so you don't become "roadside entertainment" while your horses watch from the box.

What You Will Learn

By the end of this clinic, you’ll be able to walk up to most trailers and know—within minutes—whether it’s Safe, Questionable, or a Problem waiting to happen.

His mission is to help horse owners escape the arena and enjoy the great outdoors. Robert’s clinics are known for a mix of candid humor, straight talk, and actionable steps that build real confidence for you and your animals.
