BI Trail Work Party

  • 25 Jul 2015

  • Gazzam Lake Park, Marshall Road, Bainbridge Island, WA 98110

Hello equestrian friends of the Bainbridge Metro Parks and Rec trails:

The Bainbridge Island Metro Parks and Rec District (BIMPRD) and the Trails Advisory Committee is holding a Trail Work Party on Saturday, July 25, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM to begin work on the new Knudsen Trail in northern Gazzam Park.  Meet at 10 AM in the Marshall Road parking lot at the north end of Gazzam Park.  See this map to see how to get to the Marshall Road parking lot and the approximate location of the Knudsen Trail.  Signs will mark the way from the Marshall Road parking lot to the Trail Work Party location.

The Knudsen Trail is an exciting new trail that will descend forested slopes from the north part of the main Gazzam Trail down to Crystal Springs Road over property that BIMPRD purchased in 2012.  Over the past year we’ve been working on the Veterane trail to connect Crystal Springs to the main Gazzam trail in southern Gazzam Park.  A BIMPRD trail work crew funded by a generous grant from the Bainbridge Parks Foundation has taken over work on the Veterane Trail, which frees volunteer teams to start building the new Knudsen Trail to connect northern Crystal Springs Road to the northern part of the main Gazzam Trail.  When completed, these trails will create a large loop, with Crystal Springs Road in the west connected to the Gazzam Lake trail in the east by the Veterane Trail on the south and the Knudsen Trail on the north.

The BIMPRD thanks BISC members who have provided help in building and maintaining the BIMPRD trail network.  Volunteer help in trail building and maintenance has been crucial in providing the public with more than 30 miles of superb BIMPRD trails on Bainbridge so far, with more trails to come.
