Equine Trail Sports is one of the fastest growing equestrian disciplines in our area. ETS combines a variety of trail challenges, obstacle courses and recreational rides in a fun, family friendly environment. ETS is great cross-training no matter your equestrian discipline.

Each session will begin in hand with a focus on the horse's mind, how they are motivated and how they process the obstacles. Maral will review the basics of each obstacle and break it down into small achievable steps. Each session is 4 hours and limited to 12 participants. 1 session per horse.

$75 BISC Members - Registration opens March 7th

$100 Non-Members - Registration opens March 17th

Beginner Class

This will be a fun introductory class explaining novice (entry level) obstacle and trail challenge shows. While playing on the course we will discuss: What motivates your horse? Making the obstacles a happy place for your horse Levels and types of pressure. Timing and feel (or when to release pressure) We will go over the concept of moving your horses front and rear independently both in hand and under saddle.

Open Class

Above and beyond what we go over in the beginner class we will venture into more challenging obstacles and what the judges are looking for at each one. How to maintain cadence throughout obstacles and perform them with a higher degree of finesse.

About our Clinician

Maral Eckenrod lives in Seabeck, Wa with her husband Frank and their family dog Bo.  Maral has been riding since she was 5 years old and has been blessed with several great horses in her riding career.

Her amazing gelding is an (estimated) 14 year old kill pen rescue named Scooby.  They have been partners for 7 years and have overcome some major confidence and health hurdles to be the Equine Trail Sports National Champion Equine in 2015 and Advanced division saddle winner at Regional finals in 2019.
Maral is excited to share how she won Scooby's trust and developed the partnership required to reach their goals in Equine Trail Sports.
